There are 2 cross-country ski trail systems, the Pioneer Creek Ski Trail and the Langley Lake Ski Trail . Both are groomed as needed throughout the snow season. The Vilas County Forest is open to cross-country skiing.
The Pioneer Creek Cross-Country Ski Trail trailhead is located in the Conover Town Park, 1/4 mile east of U.S. Highway 45 on the south side of County Highway K. The system contains 4 loop trails, please see map linked below for distances. This ski trail is groomed as needed and signed, and additions to the trail are anticipated in the future. Please feel free to download the trail map at the link below. Amenities in this family-friendly park include access to the Conover Town Park with its heated restrooms.
The Langley Lake Cross- Country Ski Trail is located 6.5 miles west of Conover. The parking area and trailhead are on the north side of County Highway K. The system consists of Loop #1: 1.14 miles; Loop #2: 3.61 miles, and Loop #3: 4.62 miles. Terrain is gently rolling. The Langley Lake Ski Trail is signed but not groomed.
